- Day 2: Yorkshire Dales
- Day 3: Yorkshire Moors to Sandsend
Daily distances and timings are planned to give you steady progress with time for breaks, checks and weather delays.

The afternoon brings you out of the Lake District and towards the Yorkshire Dales, with quieter back roads linking the remaining lanes. You arrive in Kirkby Stephen at around 16:30, giving time to refuel, check vehicles and settle into overnight accommodation.

Route: Kirkby Stephen to Masham – Yorkshire Dales
Distance: Approximately 130 km / 81 miles
Start time: 09:45
Finish time: Around 16:00
Terrain: Remote green lanes, moorland tracks, gravel roads and minor lanes through the Yorkshire Dales
You leave Kirkby Stephen at 09:45, climbing back into the hills on a sequence of Dales lanes that mix rocky sections, grassy ruts and farm access tracks. Mid‑morning you move onto more remote moorland routes with heather and open fellside.
Around lunchtime you use a combination of quiet tarmac and unsurfaced roads to link between clusters of lanes, passing through small Dales villages.
The afternoon eases into more flowing byways and farm tracks as you drop into lower ground, with mixed gravel and grass centres and occasional fords where open and passable. We reach Masham at around 16:00 for your second overnight stop.
Friday 6th November 2026
Day 3, Masham to Sandsend
Route: Masham to Sandsend – Yorkshire Moors
Distance: Approximately 145 km / 90 miles
Start time: 09:45
Finish time: Around 16:00
Terrain: Scenic green lanes, forest tracks, moorland roads and coastal approaches through the North York Moors
Day 3 leaves Masham at 09:45 and heads east on minor roads and early lanes towards the North York Moors. As you gain height the landscape opens up, with long moorland tracks and a mix of stony double‑track and firmer gravel.
By midday you are linking forest roads and unsurfaced routes where legally open, with limited facilities, so breaks need to be planned. The afternoon takes you across the moor tops and then gradually down towards the sea, with wide views over the North York Moors and out to the North Sea.
We finish at Sandsend at around 16:00, with time to park up and walk to the beach to mark the end of your Coast to Coast crossing.
