Tour Overview

• Date: Friday 30th October 2026
• Meeting Point: Golden Fleece, Tremadog LL49 9RB, 09:45 (welcome, introduction, and safety briefing)
• Finish: Around 16:30 near Coed Y Brenin.
• Price: £120 per vehicle per day (including VAT)
• Route: Black Rock Sands, Dolwyddelan Castle, Sarn Helen, Coed Y Brenin

Itinerary

• Begin in Tremadog with a group welcome and safety briefing.
• Drive along the beach at Black Rock Sands before we head inlaid along some iconic lanes.
• Tackle some of Wales’ best-known and challenging 4×4 routes.
• Enjoy a wilderness lunch stop (please bring your own packed lunch).
• Finish near Trawsfynydd/Coed Y Brenin.

• Garmin InReach GPS beacon for safety

Suitability & Requirements

• Route Difficulty: Moderate to technical. Suitable for vehicles with low range and minimum All Terrain tyres. Not recommended for novice drivers or low profile tyres. Please ask if you’re unsure about your vehicle’s suitability.
• Participants: Individuals, couples, groups, and families welcome.
• Dog Friendly: Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead for most routes.
• Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch for the wilderness stop.
• Vehicle Notice: Light scratching or minor damage (e.g., to alloy wheels) is possible due to the nature of the adventure.
• Weather: Driving Strata Florida is subject to weather conditions. High river levels may restrict access to parts of the route.

Friday 30th October 2026

After a 9:45hrs safety briefing,  we will make our way to Black Rock Sands to drive along the beach.

Our first trail explores the Tremadog area, before making our way past the slate mines of Blaenau Festiniog to Dolwyddelan Castle.

In the afternoon, we take the rocky descents of Coed Y Brenin Forest and Sarn Helen Roman Road.

We will explore the dramatic landscapes of North Wales on this 4×4 driving adventure, which includes rocky trails, steep descents, water crossings and the opportunity to test your driving skills. The trails on this route are rated as moderate to technical.

My overnight stay will be at Tyn Y Cornel Hotel (not included)

Ty’n y Cornel Hotel is beautifully situated on the shores of Tal-y-Llyn Lake, at the base of the magnificent Cadair Idris mountain.
