We had a great weekend on a variety of lanes in Mid Wales along with an overnight camp in the stunning Elan Valley.
What a colourful convoy we made, with a mix of Land Rover Defenders, a Discovery 4 and Toyota Hilux 4×4 vehicles.
Even though the river levels were low, the Lower Claerwen impressed everyone who travelled along this rugged and winding trail.
The river crossing near Builth Wells is always a favourite with adventurers!
The guests who hired the Toyota Hilux 4×4 Adventure Camper from me were very impressed with its capability and the equipment provided.

After setting up camp on Saturday evening we gathered around our camping table and shared tales of our worldwide travels over a glass of wine.
We had a mixed range of driver experience on this tour.
Tim left this great review;
“I joined Adam on day 2 of the Wild Wales explorer tour, this was my first experience of 4×4 off road driving and had some trepidation in off road touring with other experienced drivers.
This was soon alleviated as before setting off Adam talked through vehicle controls, provided hints & tips and reassured he would support through radio contact and direct instruction at the trickier parts of the route. True to his word we received the regular radio contact and more importantly direct instruction at the challenging points where Adam stood ahead and provided hand signal guidance and followed up immediately with reassurance, advice and feedback.
Adam’s knowledge on off road driving and routes is second to none, I would highly recommend Adam’s tours for both novice and experienced off road drivers and look forward to joining him again later this year. Thanks Adam!”
The Elan Valley provided amazing views in the sunny weather on Sunday.
The tracks of Mid Wales are so varied, ranging from leafy countryside to dirt tracks which are not dissimilar to those in the Pyrenees.
